Fashion Career Talk at University of Kisubi

We had an amazing honor of hosting a fashion career talk at the University of Kisubi. We are incredibly grateful to the administrators, lecturers, and especially the enthusiastic students of the fashion art and design program for welcoming us.

For many of these students, it was their first-ever career talk, making the experience even more special. We were thrilled to share insights into the exciting world of fashion and the diverse career paths available to them.

The students discovered the crucial role they  play in Uganda’s growing fashion industry. We emphasized the importance of seizing internship opportunities, volunteering in relevant organizations, and actively connecting with others in the field. These steps are vital for their professional development and future success.

This career talk is a cornerstone of our Fashion Legacy initiative, launched by Trillion Looks to empower young Ugandan fashion designers and support their journeys into the industry. Through this initiative, we celebrate and elevate African culture and creativity through the lens of fashion.

The Nubian Tabaga have their origins as handcrafted items, meticulously fashioned using conventional techniques and materials. They are delicately assembled using youthful papyrus straw, jafu, and disi sourced from the North and Central regions. The final Tabaga products have versatile applications, serving as elegant vessels for presenting fruits or storing vegetables. Beyond their practical use, they hold cultural significance, gracing events such as traditional weddings where they cradle gifts meant for the brides. Furthermore, these Tabaga pieces find purpose in adornment or as charming placements upon tables.
