On 3rd October 2024, Trillion Looks Store won a social entrepreneurship award as the ‘Engaging and Active Social Enterprise of the year 2024 in Tourism and Fashion’ These awards were organized by Capital Solutions Uganda under the Social Entrepreneurship forum during their annual Social Entrepreneurship Symposium.
Over 10 other social enterprises have won awards in climate change, wellness, agribusiness, youth, refugees, and people with disabilities. An independent audit firm was hired to rigorously evaluate entries based on their social impact.
About the Award ‘Engaging and Active social enterprise of the year in Tourism and Fashion 2024
This award is well-deserved since the products we promote and market are part of the tourism parcel. Trillion Looks store’s mission is To Inspire global appreciation of African culture and Heritage through sustainable, and Ethical African fashion products. To achieve this mission, we ensure that we work and collaborate with artisan designers in Uganda and empower them to produce products that are environmentally friendly, socially just, and sustainable.
Our products are appreciated both locally and internationally. Many international buyers take these products home as souvenirs and holidaymakers are fun of our annual afri art and fashion show which falls under MICE- Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Events.
About Trillion Looks store
Trillion Looks store is an artisan social enterprise that empowers artisan designers to produce, market, and sell their products across the globe using E-commerce.
The store was launched in July 2020 and this year marks four years since its first operation. Initially Trillion Looks store was purely an E-commerce business with no physical location and with only one service offering. Over the years the business has scaled its operation and have re-invented the will bringing on new project activities to complement the e-commerce shop. Among the the successful projects Trillion Looks Store has undertaken since inception is the afri art and fashion show and the ‘Fashion Legacy training program’.
What is the Afri art and fashion show?
.The Afri-Art and Fashion Show is a renowned platform showcasing the vibrant fusion of African fashion and artistic expression. It provides a global stage for emerging and established designers to unveil their creative visions, connecting them with potential buyers and investors. This is a platform that we offer designers to showcase their work in a runway show and exhibition. This project has helped us grow our impact and influence in that we now serve about 200 artisan designers and have worked with 60 fashion designers.
Details about the Fashion Legacy Training program
The Fashion Legacy Training is a program to equip and skill budding fashion designers with business and entrepreneurship skills to help them launch their designs and careers into the market. Through this program, we have impacted over 1000 university students through career talks. Previously we have been hosted at various universities including Nkumba University, University of kisubi and Ntinda Vocational training institute.
