Afri Art Fashion Show’s Search for the Perfect Models

On Sunday 23rd April 2023, Trillion Looks store held its first Model casting call in search of the perfect models to walk the runway during the AFRI ART and fashion show scheduled for 15th July 2023.

The casting event happened at the MOTIV Space in Bugolobi and attracted over 80 models both male and female. The models graced the event and gave their best as they walked the runway to show the judges their skills and as well answered a few questions from the panel of judges.

Were the judges looking for experience or particular body sizes? NO! Even though the judges appreciated models who had walked runways before, a number of models without experience on the runway, were given a chance to prove that they have a future and career in modeling.

Amongst the judges was Mr. Lawerence EILU  aka LORENZO. He is the founder of the Jinja modeling agency in Jinja, and the founder of the Uganda models association an umbrella that brings all different types of models together from different parts of Uganda. Lorenzo is a  model trainer and shows producer. He has worked on several projects including, Kyambongo fashion week in 2019, MUBS Hospitality Day Kampala 2019  as a model trainer, Mr and miss ability Uganda since 2021 to date as a model trainer and show producer, Miss Tourism Rwenzori in 2022 as a model trainer and show producer, Menstrual shebang fashion show in 2022 and Vumbula Uganda Festival as a model trainer

Ms. ASH AZADI – Judge  at the Afri art fashion show model casting 

ASH is an actress with a keen interest in film. she is also a marketing and communications consultant and has worked for several creative agencies overseas. She has been featured in some documentaries in Uganda, with an appearance on Sannyu and her most recent feature is in a film called NKWANZIsSLIP.

Mrs. Cerinah Kasirye –  Judge  at the Afri art fashion show model casting 

Mrs Cerinah Kasirye is the founder of trillion looks Store an artisanal social enterprise that works with women and youth artisans to help them mass produce market and sell their products across the globe.

She is the current woman entrepreneur of the year under the TOTAL ENERGIES START UPPER competition and a recipient of the best CFO Award SME category 2018 as being a finance professional leading and sustaining small and medium enterprises courtesy of ACCA, DELOITTE, AND STANBIC BANK. She is passionate about Ugandan Art and Fashion and empowering women and youth at large.

Models registering at the Afri art and fashion show model casting call at MOTIVThe AFRI ART & FASHION SHOW is a unique fashion and art event showcasing talent and skills for African art and fashion while giving artisans an opportunity to transform and build their economic freedom. In its 2nd season, we registered huge success for the first Afri art and fashion show in 2022 that occurred at Thobani Center and attracted people from Uganda, East Africa at large, Korea, China, USA among others. This show opened more doors for future Afri art and fashion show and we can’t wait to see what the team of designers, artisans, models, and exhibitors have to show this year.

Amongst activities for this year’s show are: a Runway fashion show, art, fashion, and crafts exhibition, food tourism, photography, and cultural Dance performances
